As an organization dedicated to helping every child feel curious, purposeful, and limitless, Unity Behavioral Services (UBS) was built with one mission in mind: Help every child find their ikigai – their inner spark. As a family-owned and expert-led organization, UBS puts the focus back on children and families by reshaping the model and creating an environment where every child gets a personalized approach, families are true partners, and clinicians thrive. Leading with an individualized approach means they are focused on more than just milestones, putting the child’s needs at the center of each custom-built development program, and making development into an adventure.
“We believe each child has a unique spark within them – we call it ikigai. That magical sweet spot where their natural curiosity meets their growing skills is an adventure, and we are the guides. That unwavering confidence in charting a new course, and fierce commitment to the children and families we serve, is what makes us a different kind of provider.”

A Mission Rooted in Individual Purpose
Ikigai is a Japanese concept centered around finding purpose. Igniting that purpose is the key to unlocking a child’s potential. While the world often focuses on what a child cannot do, UBS focuses on the four questions that foster a child's self-discovery:
- What do they love? UBS leans into their natural play and curiosity.
- What are they good at? UBS celebrates their emerging strengths and milestones.
- What does their “world” need? UBS helps them build meaningful connections with family and peers.
- What can they be paid for? UBS cultivates that “I did it!” feeling that teaches lifelong independence from childhood.
UBS’s “why” is rooted in the belief that every child deserves to feel the joy of their own potential. That means truly learning who each child is – their strengths, their challenges, what makes them light up, and more. And that’s impossible using a map designed for someone else. That’s why individualization and close collaboration with families are key. Instead of simply giving a child tasks to master, they focus on who they are and build a plan that grows with them, honors their uniqueness, and helps them discover their own spark.
A Revolutionary Methodology
UBS’s methodology is at the core of the company’s revolutionary approach. Built over the course of a decade, it is grounded in human development and early childhood studies across numerous cultures, then tailored to the specific needs of each individual.
"We use this methodology with our own kids. That's how confident we are in what we do. This isn't theory, it's how we raise our families."

For ABA therapy, each individualized treatment plan starts with a comprehensive evaluation to understand the child’s specific needs, strengths, and challenges. In collaboration with the family, clear, achievable goals are designed and revisited regularly to make adjustments and track progress. UBS does not require the full-time, 40‑hour‑per‑week therapy model used by many ABA providers. Instead, their Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) use precise assessment tools and their clinical expertise to customize therapy hours to each child’s needs.
Data is at the center of UBS’s methodology, which is why 100% of clients have found meaningful success in their first 6 months of therapy. And, as a family-owned and operated company, UBS finds family collaboration to be one of the factors that distinguishes them within the industry, and the most impactful driver of lasting progress for the children they serve.
While the methodology is the foundation of ABA therapy, it is applicable for children of all neurodivergencies. Children who begin UBS's methodology at birth consistently outpace traditional CDC developmental benchmarks by over a year by age three.
In addition to a methodology that reshapes education, the company has built a culture that clinicians feel proud to be part of. The company maintains a 0% voluntary turnover rate, unheard of in the ABA industry.
"Our methodology is what makes us revolutionary, but our culture is what makes us successful. To do what we do requires a different level of passion and vision. I always say, ‘We are a different kind of "pirate" because we are a crew of misfits – each of us carrying unique talents, hard-won scars, and a particular kind of determination – sailing toward something most people would call impossible.’"
