About the Assessment

The Assessment is a thorough evaluation conducted by our experienced clinicians.

If you've noticed challenges in your child's behavior, communication, or social development, an assessment is the first step. Our team of Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) will evaluate your child’s unique profile, identifying what’s working and what needs tailored support. This isn’t just a check-list—it’s a launch pad for meaningful, measurable progress.

Why is the Assessment Important?

Clarity

Sometimes the most challenging part is knowing where to start. The initial assessment will help you understand if there are causes for concern in your child's developmental milestones or if they are just taking their time. We will provide clarity on your child's strengths, opportunities, and help you chart a path forward.

Dialogue

The assessment allows parents to have an open dialogue with clinicians who are experienced in all areas of child development. We take the time to walk you through our findings, answer questions, and suggest next steps that give you confidence in your child's development journey.

Understanding

Whether it's developmental delays or an Autism diagnosis, early, effective intervention is the most crucial step toward unlocking your child's potential. Our clinicians walk you through real, data-based findings and remind you that wherever you are on your journey, you are not alone.

What to Expect During the Assessment

1. Initial Interview
2. Observation
3. Skill Evaluation
4. Behavioral Analysis
5. Family Collaboration

Initial Interview

We start with a conversation—an open, judgment-free space to learn about your child’s daily life, routines, and the behaviors or challenges you’ve noticed. This helps our team understand your child’s environment and identify where support can make the biggest difference.

Observation

Next, we observe your child in their natural setting—whether that’s at home, school, or a play environment. Seeing how your child interacts in real life gives us authentic insight into their communication, attention, and social behaviors.

Skill Evaluation

Our clinicians guide your child through gentle, play-based activities that help us assess key developmental areas like communication, self-help, play, and social connection. These moments reveal strengths to build on and areas that may benefit from structured support.

Behavioral Analysis

We carefully analyze behaviors that may be creating barriers for your child—looking at what triggers them, what motivates them, and how they can be reshaped into positive, functional actions. This step transforms patterns into data we can act on together.

Family Collaboration

We conclude by walking you through our findings, ensuring you fully understand what we’ve observed and why it matters. Together, we design a clear and practical plan for next steps so you feel informed, confident, and supported moving forward.

After the Assessment

After the Assessment, you’ll receive a diagnostic report and recommended next steps stemming directly from our work together.

We’ll walk you through what we found, why it matters, and how to help your child move forward—step by step. If you're proceeding with other Unity Behavioral services, a portion of your assessment fee will be credited toward those services.
