 We are honored to partner with you and your family. At Unity Behavioral Services, we believe meaningful progress happens when care is compassionate, evidence-based, and grounded in strong collaboration between families and clinical teams.

This Client & Family Handbook is designed to help you understand our services, what you can expect from us, and how we work together to support your child’s growth and success.

Our Approach

Unity Behavioral Services provides individualized, ethical, and data-driven Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services. Services may be provided in home-based and community-based settings and are tailored to each client’s unique needs, strengths, and goals.

Our services focus on:

  • Building functional, communication, and social skills.

  • Reducing behaviors that interfere with learning or safety.

  • Supporting generalization of skills across environments.

  • Actively involving families and caregivers.

At Unity Behavioral Services, family partnership is at the heart of everything we do.

What to Expect from ABA Services

Assessment & Treatment Planning
  • Services begin with an intake and assessment process.
  • A treatment plan is developed based on assessment findings.
  • Treatment goals are reviewed with families.
  • Progress is monitored and plans are adjusted as needed.
Ongoing Services
  • Services are delivered by trained staff under clinical supervision.

  • Data is collected to track progress.

  • Families are kept informed of progress and recommendations.

Family Partnership & Involvement

Family involvement is essential to success. At Unity Behavioral Services, we encourage families to:

  • Participate in treatment planning and reviews.

  • Be engaged during home-based sessions.

  • Engage in parent training and education.

  • Communicate openly with the clinical team.

Together, we build consistency, confidence, and lasting skills.

Your Rights as a Client & Family

You have the right to:

  • Be treated with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity.

  • Receive services in a safe, supportive, and non-discriminatory manner.

  • Participate in decisions about treatment.

  • Receive clear information about services and progress.

  • Have your privacy protected.

  • Access clinical records as permitted by law.

  • Share concerns or complaints without fear of retaliation.

  • Refuse, pause, or discontinue services at any time, in accordance with the terms set forth in your service agreements.

Your Responsibilities as a Family Partner

To support effective services, we ask families to:

  • Provide accurate and relevant information.

  • Maintain a safe and appropriate environment for services.

  • Be present in the home during sessions.

  • Notify Unity Behavioral Services of cancellations or scheduling changes as soon as possible.

  • Inform Unity Behavioral Services of illness or conditions that may impact services.

  • Communicate concerns respectfully and promptly.

Scheduling & Attendance
Consistency supports progress. Families are encouraged to:

  • Provide advance notice when cancelling or rescheduling.

  • Communicate changes in availability.

Repeated missed sessions may impact scheduling availability and may be subject to a cancellation fee.

Health, Safety & Illness
To protect everyone involved:

  • Please notify Unity Behavioral Services if a client or household member is ill.

  • Sessions may be postponed when illness presents a risk.

  • Unity Behavioral Services staff will follow infection control and safety procedures.

Privacy & Confidentiality
Unity Behavioral Services protects your privacy in accordance with applicable laws. Client information is:

  • Used only for treatment, payment, and healthcare operations. 

  • Shared only with appropriate authorization or as required by law. 

You will receive additional information about privacy practices during intake.

Communication With the Unity Behavioral Services Team

We value clear and respectful communication. Families may communicate with the clinical team through:

  • In-person conversations
  • Phone calls
  • Approved electronic communication

Clinical guidance and treatment decisions are documented in the client record.

Technology Use During Services

Technology may be used to support treatment or documentation. Unity Behavioral Services staff will:

  • Protect client confidentiality
  • Avoid recording or photographing clients without authorization
  • Use technology only in ways that support treatment goals

Concerns, Complaints & Grievances

We welcome feedback and encourage families to share concerns. You may:

  • Speak with your clinical team

  • Submit concerns verbally or in writing

Concerns are reviewed respectfully and objectively. Raising concerns will never affect access to services or result in retaliation.

Discontinuation of Services

Services may end when:

  • Treatment goals are achieved
  • Services are no longer clinically appropriate
  • Families request discontinuation
  • Safety or program considerations require transition

When services end, Unity Behavioral Services will make reasonable efforts to provide referrals or recommendations for continued support.
